Mercury Transit

Definition: A transit of Mercury across the Sun takes place when the planet Mercury comes between theSun and the Earth, and Mercury is seen as a small black dot moving across the face of the Sun.
Unlike the definition above, Mercury Transit is much more than a black dot moving across the face of the sun, they have energy that brightens the whole room and each member of the band has there own individual talents that form one.  Joe (bass) has been playing for over 20 years and played saxophone during his junior high/high school years, Christine (vocals) has been playing guitar and singing since she was about 13, Mike (guitar) has been playing for about 10 years but coming from musical parents (Dad played banjo and mom a piano player) started out playing piano and played with his parents from time to time
Mike (Guitar) was at a Karaoke Bar on a night the day after his father passed and got up to sing some U2 (his favorite band) and a then girl named Christine (Vocals) also there at the same place, got up and sang a few tunes too, Mike was like “Wow” this girl is better than anyone else here”.  Mike & Christine exchanged some conversation in regards to music and instruments, and this was the beginning of Mercury Transit.  The name itself, a combination of Mike hearing about the Transit of Mercury on the radio in the summer of 2006 and Christine being a astronomy nerd thought the name was a perfect fit.
Mercury Transit, only together about 4 ½ years, except for Tristan who is new to the band, only the last 2 years have been working and focusing on recording their album with Jim Pavett of Allusion Studios (also the studio drummer on the album), is due out soon.
Each member – Christine: Vocals, Joe: Bass, Mike: Guitar and Tristen: Drums, although together a short time have some of the same musical interests that range from the Beatles, Lynard Skynard, Jefferson Airplane to musicians of today like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Amy Lee (Evanesense), U2 and Stone Temple Pilots and their music has been compared to that of Garbage, Hole, and Alanis Morrisette.
Some last words from Mercury Transit to the readers out there:
“If your in a band, keep doing it, if you quit before you get to where you want to go you will never get there” ~ Christine (vocals)
“No matter the level of musicianship, if you play in a band you’re going to get better, also play with musicians you get along with”Mike (guitar)
